Pros: Greatest windows security ever, easy to use, lots of new features over older versions.
Cons: Drains more system resources than old versions, may not really be needed.
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for an OS, this is a great one to use, but weigh whether you need it carefully.

Pros: It's Windows, slightly more secure
Cons: It's Windows, still insecure
The Bottom Line: Windows XP is good for a novice, but not so good for nerd. At least it's compatible with most software.
